Florida Hurricane Prep Checklist for Broward Homeowners

Hurricane season runs June 1–November 30. In Broward, the homeowners who prep in May spend a fraction of what the ones who wait spend after. Here’s the full checklist — before the season, when a warning hits, and after the storm. Save it, share it, and call us for the parts you’d rather not do on a ladder.

✓ Insured (Liberty Mutual GL) · ★ 5.0 · 33 reviews · Priority callbacks on advisory days

1. Before the season (do this now)

We handle: tree-debris haul, fence/deck shore-up, board-up prep, exterior seal & paint, and pre-storm junk & debris removal. See storm prep →

2. When a watch or warning is issued (48–72 hrs out)

We handle: priority board-up, shutter install, and securing on advisory days — and the 15-yard dump trailer for loose debris.

3. After the storm passes

We handle: debris haul, roof tarping (temporary), board-up removal, and triage repairs — see storm cleanup & repair →. Roofing, electrical and structural work goes to a licensed contractor; not sure? Use our free license-check tool.

Hurricane prep — questions

When should I start hurricane prep in Broward?

Before June 1. Pre-season is when tree trimming, fence shore-up, gutter clearing, debris haul, and shutter fitting should happen — and when crews still have open slots. Waiting until a storm is named means higher cost and a longer wait.

Do you board up homes before a storm?

Yes — plywood or panel board-up, shutter install, securing loose items, and drainage clear-out, with priority callbacks on advisory days. Book early in the season.

What does storm debris haul-away cost?

Our 15-yard dump trailer is $425 for 3 days or $850 for the week, with free local delivery in Broward where placement allows.
