How to Mount a TV the Right Way
Find the studs — or anchor like you mean it
A flat TV pulls down and out, so the anchor is everything. Into wood studs with proper lags is best. On a stud-less spot, only heavy-duty toggle bolts rated several times your TV’s weight belong there — plastic drywall plugs are how TVs end up on the floor. Find studs with a magnet (locate the screws) or a stud finder, and mark both edges.
Match the mount to the wall and the TV
Confirm your TV’s VESA hole pattern and weight, then pick fixed, tilt, or full-motion. Concrete or block walls (common in Broward) need masonry anchors and a hammer drill; tile needs a careful pilot so it doesn’t crack. The mount’s rated weight should clear your TV with room to spare.
Hide the cords without breaking code
A clean install hides the HDMI and low-voltage cables in the wall with an inexpensive cord kit — that’s allowed. What’s not allowed is stuffing the TV’s power cord inside the wall; code wants a proper recessed outlet behind the TV. Relocating power is licensed electrical work — we mount and run the low-voltage side and refer the electrical if you want a new outlet.
