How to Assemble Flat-Pack Furniture Without the Headache
Sort before you build
Lay out and count all parts and hardware against the manifest before you start. Finding a missing cam lock at step 14 with the box half-built is how a one-hour job becomes an evening.
Read it all first
Skim the entire booklet so you know where it’s headed. Most frustration is a panel installed backwards three steps ago — you can’t see it coming without reading ahead.
Don’t strip the screws
Hand-tighten cam locks and screws; a drill on full torque strips the screw or blows out the particle board. Watch grain and finished-side orientation on every panel as you go.
Anchor tall pieces
Dressers and bookcases must be anchored to the wall — tip-overs are a real danger, especially with kids. We anchor every tall piece as a matter of course. Whole houseful to build? We assemble furniture across Broward.

Usually a screwdriver, the included wrench, and a rubber mallet. Skip the power drill for final tightening so you don’t strip anything.

Yes — tall pieces like dressers and bookcases must be wall-anchored to prevent dangerous tip-overs. We always do.
